UKFTA agreement will take effect

from 11:00 pm on 31 DEC 2020

In the afternoon of December 11, 2020, Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Tran

Tuan Anh and UK Minister of International Trade Ms. Liz Truss signed a

Memorandum of Understanding on the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement

(FTA) Vietnam – UK (UKVFTA).

According to some online news At 9:00 p.m. on December 29, 2020, at Vietnam

time, due to the influence of Covid-19, the signing of the UKVFTA Agreement was

authorized by the Ambassadors of the 2 countries to directly sign in London, UK.

The UKVFTA Agreement is negotiated based on the principle of inheritance of the

commitments made in the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the

European Union (EVFTA) with the necessary adjustments to ensure compliance    

with the framework the Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the UK.

In this time, MOIT Vietnam have not issued the circular yet or any guides.
